Verescence and Pochet du Courval make the flacons for Chanel, Dior, Guerlain, Hermès and most of the luxury houses. If you are a niche or indie fragrance brand, you have probably been told they are out of reach. This article explains what you actually get from the French makers, what you get from a Chinese perfume bottle factory, and where the realistic line sits.
This comparison is written and published by Loci Glass. We are one of the companies described below. The other company is represented using its own published materials and trade press as of October 2026, and we have tried to be fair — including on the points where they are clearly stronger than we are. If you spot an error, contact us and we will correct it.
Founded in 1623, family-owned for seven generations, Pochet du Courval is the oldest name in luxury perfume glass. The Guimerville site employs around 1,500 people, produces about 1 million bottles per day from 3,500 models, launches roughly 300 new products a year and turns over around €300 million. Its 15 key accounts include L'Oréal, LVMH, Chanel, Hermès, Estée Lauder, Shiseido, Puig, Coty and Cartier; the Guerlain relationship dates to 1853. In 2025 it commissioned France's first all-electric furnace for luxury flacons (€40 million). Part of Groupe Pochet with Qualipac (caps) and Solev (decoration). Website: groupe-pochet.fr
Verescence describes itself as the world leader in luxury glass bottles, with more than 120 years of history and seven plants in four countries, positioned to manufacture close to customers in Europe, the Americas and Asia. It both forms and decorates glass, and reported turnover in the region of €500 million. Clients are the major perfume and cosmetics groups. Website: verescence.com

Pochet and Verescence are not expensive versions of what a Chinese factory does. They are a different business: bespoke luxury flacon development with houses that launch 300 new references a year and commit to volumes in the hundreds of thousands. If that is you, you are already their customer.
For everyone else — the niche house doing 5,000 bottles of a new scent, the DTC brand testing three fragrances, the Middle East attar brand, the salon brand adding a hair perfume — the question is not "Pochet or China". It is "which Chinese factory, and how do I get a flacon that looks like it belongs next to a Pochet bottle on the shelf".
What a Chinese factory can do well: heavy-base cylinder and square flacons, crystal-cut private-mold shapes from 30,000 pcs, FEA 15 crimp necks that take standard luxury pumps, electroplated or Zamac caps, frosting, hot-stamped logos, spray colour and gradients. What it cannot do: the extra-flint clarity and complex asymmetric forms that only a luxury furnace and decades of mold-making deliver, or the near-shore reorder speed.
Practical rule: if the bottle itself is the product story (sculptural, architectural, collectable), budget for a French maker. If the juice is the story and the bottle needs to look premium and consistent, a 3,000-piece Chinese flacon at roughly a dollar — decorated — is the rational choice.
Both work primarily with large perfume and cosmetics groups on bespoke programmes at high volumes. Small brands are usually served through distributors with stock ranges or turn to a factory such as Loci Glass with a 3,000-piece MOQ on stock flacons.
For niche and indie fragrance brands at 3,000–50,000 bottles per scent, yes — stock heavy-base flacons with FEA 15 necks, decorated, from 3,000 pcs. For bespoke luxury flacons at six-figure volumes, no; that remains the French makers' domain.
Yes, as a private-mold project from 30,000 pcs with $2,000–8,000 tooling. Loci Glass produces crystal-cut and faceted shapes in premium cosmetic glass; extra-flint luxury glass with very complex asymmetric forms is where the French makers retain an advantage.
Stock flacons use FEA 15 crimp necks or 18/415 and 20/410 screw necks, which accept standard pumps from major pump suppliers. Send the pump specification and we fit-test on the bottle before production.
At 5,000 pcs, a clear heavy-base 50 ml flacon with one decoration process is roughly $0.60–1.20 ex-works from Loci Glass, plus $0.18–0.25 freight to Europe or the US. Caps and pumps are quoted separately.
Existing-mold MOQ 3,000 pcs. 11 categories. All 6 decoration processes in-house. Reply within 1 business day.
